The President's View - July
Released On 3rd Aug 2015
Last month saw activity continue towards our goal of Yeovil Chamber as the one-stop-shop for the business community.
I am pleased to announce that Jane Adkins of the award-winning A Head For PR has rejoined our Executive team. Jane has hit the ground running, as one of our three-strong Marketing & Promotions team, working with Richard Howes (Kontrolit), and Rachel Oaten (Amicus Law), managing our programme of networking and business support events. Part of that expanding events programme will be a high-level South Somerset Digital Summit, planned for September, and to be announced shortly. At the summit, BT will update the business community on their superfast broadband roll-out, digital providers will unveil their vision for Yeovil as a digital hub, and the panel guests will include Marcus Fysh, MP for Yeovil.
I would like to welcome new Executive member Andrew Oakley of Beales in Yeovil. Andrew’s enthusiasm, energy and wide retail experience are a valuable addition to our team, and will enhance our town centre presence.
I would also like to welcome Read & Co Accountants and Introtweet as new Chamber members. Read & Co is a long-established Martock accountancy firm, familiar to me, and now expanding into Yeovil. Introtweet have been assisting Yeovil Chamber recently with our social media presence, and I am pleased to see that Laura and Peter now want to take advantage of the benefits of Chamber membership.
I and the fourteen-strong Executive team remain committed to supporting the business community in any way we can. If you feel there are areas where we can improve what we do, please let me know. The buck stops with me, and I welcome criticism as an opportunity to learn.
