President’s Heartbeat - w/c 6th November 2017
On 1st November I attended a turf-cutting ceremony, marking the commencement of the Western Corridor road upgrade project. Symbolic maybe; but it gave me another opportunity to meet with senior project officials, contractors and the media, to make the point again that although the improvements need to be delivered, disruption must be minimised wherever possible. Over £24m has been invested by central government into Yeovil, which has been earmarked for success. When I am sat in my car in another roadworks-delayed traffic jam, I will try to remember that £24m represents a significant stake in Yeovil, and the light at the end of the tunnel in March 2019 is that Yeovil will have a road system fit for purpose, prepared for the growth and expansion that will follow. Please be assured that Yeovil Chamber will continue to work with the agencies to minimise disruption during this challenging period, so please be patient, and keep a positive mindset.
