President’s Heartbeat - w/c 23rd October 2017

Last Wednesday, 18th October, Chamber enjoyed its debut at the 2017 Somerset Business Show, at Westland Leisure Complex.  All stands were taken, and footfall was fairly brisk throughout the day.  Our industrious secretary Gina, was the Chamber star, taking nearly twenty enquiries from visitors to our stand in the main ballroom.  If we sign up one or two of these enquiries as new members it will be ‘mission accomplished’.  I spent most of the day wandering around networking with my Chamber hat on, making new connections, and connecting people with people.  Several of the stands were Yeovil Chamber members, and there was a good number of new faces, which is always good for networking.  Feedback towards the end of the day was mixed; some commented that the footfall could have been better, but there was evidence of business opportunities being secured.

In summary, and largely thanks to our secretary Gina, this was a ‘good day at the office’ for Chamber.  With the improvements planned for 2018, Chamber hopes to have the resource to develop and deliver events such as this which showcase Yeovil, and to invest in greater support for the business community.
