NHS Volunteer to Career Initiative
Released On 6th Oct 2023
The Volunteer to Career (VtC) programme is dedicated to empowering talented and driven young individuals to embark on fulfilling NHS careers through volunteer opportunities. This initiative creates a win-win scenario, benefiting both enthusiastic volunteers and forward-thinking hospital trusts.
Within the local community, the VtC program provides a vital pathway for individuals aspiring to build careers within the NHS. Simultaneously, it addresses NHS Trusts' workforce strategies by supplying them with motivated, community-driven individuals. These volunteers gain first hand experience in the hospital environment, receive invaluable career guidance from Clinical Leads, and benefit from personalized support during the application process for NHS job vacancies.
NHS recruiters, in turn, gain access to a pool of proactive self-starters with genuine healthcare experience, enriching their applicant pool.
The program evaluation process involves a comprehensive Self Assessment Tool, engaging senior management, clinical staff, and volunteers alike. Tailored reports offer a holistic 360-degree view, helping organizations identify areas for improvement and growth in volunteer career pathways. This approach aims to enhance the organization's appreciation of volunteers as a valuable future workforce and seamlessly integrate VtC practices into their everyday operations.
