New Trading Estate Initiative launches

It was my absolute privilege to attend the first meeting of Yeovil Chamber’s new networking event, Meet Your Neighbours, last week hosted at D Glass on the Lufton Trading Estate.  Expertly organised by Exec members, Ben Malik (Auxilium HR) and Amanda Whitlock (Total Wellbeing Matters) this new event has been 3 years in the planning.  Originally launched in 2019 before the pandemic brought events to a halt, Ben had started this group on the Yeovil Lynx Trading Estate as a way of neighbouring businesses connecting and doing business together.  Fast forward to 2022 and the need for specific networking on Yeovil’s trading estates is as clear as ever.

The premise of knowing your neighbours and working together was celebrated and applauded by all that attended, and the unique format made this a valuable addition to Yeovil Chamber’s networking portfolio.  A vibrant meeting was interspersed with breakout groups and discussions, allowing the meeting to flow and focus on key points.

With over 20 businesses in attendance, there was a mix of skills and specialities including supporting services, manufacturers, and training. Discussions focussed on mutual issues and initiatives aimed at benefiting the trading estate and the wider business community.  We also received updates from Yeovil Chamber Patrons, Jurassic Fibre on the progress of the broadband roll-out in Yeovil, Yeovil College about training opportunities for businesses and new members Resolution Interiors about their charity efforts in aid of the Ukrainian refugees. The variety of businesses was vast, but the message was the same – Yeovil is a great place to do business.
