Inspire young people about your industry

Schools across the county need help from local employers to build awareness about local businesses and the training and career options that they can offer to young people in Somerset. Below are some upcoming opportunities for you to inspire young people about your industry.

Could you offer a work experience opportunity to a budding scientist this Spring

Students studying applied science at Richard Huish College are currently seeking the chance to work with local employers in science-based industries to help contextualise how science is employed in a wide range of vocations, and enable them to develop their scientific skill set in a work setting.

During their studies, students develop a diverse understanding of scientific theory and how this relates to the application of scientific practice in the work place; focusing in areas such as pathology, medical physics and chemical analysis.

These determined and driven young people bring with them a slew of transferrable skills including: strong numeracy, data handling and analysis, collaborative working, problem solving and health and safety awareness.

Students are aiming to gain some experience during the week of March 6th 2023.
