Released On 26th Jan 2022

Yeovil College is partnering with the South Somerset 14-19 Partnership and Impress Education to support the delivery of an online learning programme. Starting from next week, the programme which is focused on English, Maths and Science subjects, is designed to stretch and challenge Year 11 students to achieve an improved grade in their final GCSE examinations.

The online English Language, Maths and Science provision available to students has been created by published educational authors, former principal examiners, senior examiners and lead practitioners. The online sessions are delivered by current practitioners and examiners, including Yeovil College lecturers.

Mark Bolton, Principal and CEO of Yeovil College, said: “We are proud to be partnering with the South Somerset 14-19 Partnership and Impress Education to support local Year 11 students. After another unprecedented year in education, this is an incredibly positive move for the future generation of our local community, allowing them to ‘impress the examiner’ by achieving a higher grade in their examinations and ultimately increase the opportunities in their future career journeys.”

Impress Education said: “Over the last 20 months the landscape of teaching has changed dramatically. Students have been forced by circumstances beyond their control to adopt online learning. Schools have been forced to ensure their teaching provision can translate seamlessly to an online offer. Thankfully, Impress since its inception had planned for an online digital suite of products and services. We are delighted that you will have the opportunity to benefit from them.”

The schools currently signed up to the online platform include Preston School, Westfield Academy, Buckler’s Mead Academy, Ansford Academy, Wadham School, Sexeys School, Yeovil College and The South Somerset Partnership School. Students within these schools will have access to the weekly timetable of online provision and support throughout the programme.
