YEOVIL COLLEGE ACHIEVES EXCEPTIONAL RESULTS DESPITE NATIONAL DOWNTURN

Furthermore, 86% of Yeovil College A Level students achieved their first-choice university places, including many Russell Group Universities securing the future they have been determined to achieve. We are also delighted to share that A*-A grades are 8% higher than pre-pandemic levels for A Level students, whilst A*-B grades also remain higher than pre-pandemic levels.

Matt Holmes, Curriculum Area Manager of Kingston Sixth Form, said: “I am beyond proud of what our students have achieved this year. As the cohort most affected by the pandemic, sitting public exams for the first time, they have demonstrated what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. 2022/23 has been no less challenging than the pandemic years but our students have risen to the challenge magnificently and I can’t wait to support them on to continue to achieve great things!”

An impressive 86% of Yeovil College students having secured their first-choice university destinations and university choices, including prestigious Russell Group universities, which will enable them to pursue their chosen careers. Our local and partner universities have also been favoured this year, helping to retain the next generation of academic talent and future workers within the South West. University destinations include Exeter University, Bournemouth University, University of Southampton, University of Bath, University of Plymouth and University of Reading.

Popular university progression subjects chosen by Yeovil College students this year include Law, Veterinary Science, Biomedicine, Criminology, Geography, Nursing, Business and Management.

Yeovil College student Abigail Wellwood, formerly of Preston School, achieved A*, A*, A* in Chemistry, Biology and Geography, with an A in her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), said:

“Lecturers have been really supportive throughout my studies. I am extremely excited to be starting at Bath University in September to study Natural Science after achieving triple A* in Chemistry, Biology and Geography.”

Yeovil College student Sandra Compton, formerly of Gillingham School, achieved A*, A*, B in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, said:

“I can honestly say this has been the best two years of my life. I chose Yeovil College for the facilities, particularly the new science labs and I have not been disappointed. I was lucky to join Yeovil College with a great group of friends that I now get to celebrate with as we move onto our next steps. The combination of the facilities, the support from my peers and excellent teaching has meant that I am able to start at Nottingham University in September as I join their Veterinary School.”
