The Battens Charitable Trust is launching a campaign to help vulnerable people in the South West cope with the cost-of-living crisis.
The BCT is donating £6500 to 13 local cost of living crisis charities, such as food and warm banks in Somerset and Dorset. The trust is donating £500 to each charity during December.
The Battens Charitable Trust was set up in 1985 by Battens Solicitors to provide charitable grants to local good causes. Since then, the trust has donated more than half a million pounds to hundreds of charities and community initiatives.
Throughout December Battens Solicitors’ staff are also taking part in a fundraising campaign, Run, bike, swim, walk home for Christmas. Staff are sponsored to exercise for the distance is takes to travel home from one of Battens six offices located in Somerset and Dorset. The company will match fund the amount which is raised by staff.

The money raised will help the trust continue to support these initiatives going into 2023.
Naomi Dyer, a trustee of the BCT said;” Battens has a long history of supporting the local South West community through its charitable trust. During the recent pandemic the BCT donated £25,000 to local foodbanks and NHS organisations and hospitals. Now our community is facing another crisis and the BCT is stepping in to help those in need during these unprecedented economic times. We are very proud that our staff are actively getting involved to fundraise, and we will give them our utmost support.”
