STUNNING REGIONAL LANDMARK PLAYS HOST TO CREATIVE FESTIVAL
Released On 1st Jul 2024
This is the second consecutive year, the comprehensive Creative curriculum will occupy this grand and historic setting, presenting an array of remarkable student works. The event is a collaborative effort, involving not only those students from across the Yeovil College and Yeovil College University Centre, but includes contributions from the Hair and Beauty, Hospitality and Catering, and Kingston Sixth Form A Level students, creating a formidable exhibition.
The festival will also feature exclusive events, such as an employer engagement brunch, afternoon tea, and a private evening viewing. Over 100 students will have the opportunity to present their most impressive works to an exclusive circle of guests. Lecturers from the Creative Industries department, who are also active industry professionals, will seize this chance to exhibit their own creations and personal projects.
Mark Bolton, CEO & Principal, Yeovil College, said: “The Yeovil College Creative Festival is a significant deal to all involved, but particularly to our students who have committed an exceptional amount of time, effort and energy to creating their showcase at Sparkford Hall.
“Following on from the huge success that was the 2023 Yeovil College Creative Festival, it is only right to present the work of our talented students, practicing staff and resident artists again in a venue as beautiful and as inspiring as Sparkford Hall.
“The creative industries is an area that I am both personally and professionally passionate about, and, like many of my staff team, I have a deep routed interest in the growth and resilience of this sector. As a former practitioner, teacher of graphic design and business owner, I believe that Yeovil College has a strong role to play in supporting the continued growth and development of the creative industries, through the creation of brilliantly talented, young people – opening young minds to creative exploration, individuality and self-expression, and in doing so, creating a generation of top innovative talent.
“We have invested significantly into our creative industries provision, perhaps more than any other educational establishment within the South West, and as a creative, I am determined to give our students and staff the very best. Our creative students benefit from the expansive knowledge, experience and skills that our lecturers provide, many of whom are still very much active within the creative industry and set a fantastic example for our budding creatives.”
This festival is an ideal opportunity for prospective students, particularly those in Years 11, 12, or 13, considering enrollment at Yeovil College or its University Centre this September, or those interested in a career in the creative arts disciplines such as graphic design, media, photography, art and design, or digital media. It promises to be a delightful outing.
