SKY ACADEMY STUDENTS LEARN PLASTERING IN SCHOOL

Sky Academy Students had their first experience of the plastering business today, joining Morrissey Plastering and Drylining in decorating the walls of the new construction project in their school.
Construction company Willmott Dixon have been continuing their work with students from Sky Academy, Taunton by organising another on site taster session and site visit providing much needed opportunities for local young people.
On Monday 16th May, students were guided by workers from the Morrissey Plastering and Drylining company to work on pre prepped walls that Morrissey had set out to allow them to master the right technique before getting the plaster on the walls as smoothly as possible.
Mike Keal, Service Manager for Programmes for Somerset County Council said “Social value is an important part of SCCs construction projects, and it is wonderful to see this directly benefiting the pupils of Sky College.”
According to a current study conducted by the CITB, the South West construction industry needs to recruit 32,000 workers by 2025 in order for the sector to keep up with demand. Wilmott Dixon is delivering taster sessions to students to deliver social value in the building project by helping young people gain confidence and valuable skills to help them into future employment.
Willmott Dixon will continue to work with these students to provide further trade taster opportunities as the project develops.
