NEW SOMERSET COUNCIL - LISTENING TO SOMERSET BUSINESSES EVENTS
Released On 25th Jan 2023
NEW SOMERSET COUNCIL - LISTENING TO SOMERSET BUSINESSES EVENTS
4.30 PM WEDNESDAY 1 FEBRUARY (CANALSIDE CENTRE, BRIDGWATER)
8.30 AM THURSDAY 9 FEBRUARY (YEOVIL INNOVATION CENTRE)
On 1 April 2023 the new Somerset Council (which replaces the current Somerset County Council and the four District Councils in Somerset) will begin. The new Somerset Council will be responsible for all local government services in Somerset and act as a voice for Somerset regionally and nationally.
Key strategic priorities for the new Somerset Council will be to ensure that Somerset has a flourishing economy in the future and that the challenges of the current economic climate are addressed for local businesses and residents.
Somerset businesses will be important stakeholders for the new Somerset Council and many Council services involve and impact upon businesses in the county.
For these reasons we are keen to engage with – and, critically, listen to – the views of Somerset businesses.
As an initial step we are organising two meetings open specifically for attendance by Somerset businesses. Senior councillors responsible for making the key decisions in the new Somerset Council will be present to explain their plans, hear your views and answer questions.
Key topics for both meetings include the draft Council plan and the proposed budget for the Council for 2023/24
Details of the meetings are as follows:
- 4.30 pm – 6 pm Wednesday 1 February 2023 – the Canalside Centre, Huntworth, Bridgwater
- 8-30 – 10.00 am Thursday 9 February 2023 – Yeovil innovation centre
