Milsted Langdon Proudly Signs National Menopause Pledge

Released On 25th Jan 2022

South West accountancy firm Milsted Langdon has joined a number of the UK's leading businesses by giving its support to the Menopause Workplace Pledge.

The firm, which has offices in Bristol, Bath, Taunton, Yeovil and London, was moved by the latest statistics, which showed that almost 900,000 women in the UK quit their jobs due to the menopause.

Although already incredibly supportive of employees experiencing the menopause, Milsted Langdon wanted to make a difference by signing the pledge, which confirms they are committed to:

  • Recognising the menopause can be a challenging experience within the workplace and women need support
  • Talking openly, positively and respectfully about the menopause
  • Actively supporting and informing your employees affected by the menopause.

Rachel Hotham, People Partner at Milsted Langdon, said: “It is important that we recognise the needs of all of our team and support them through the challenges of life. The menopause can be an exceedingly tough time for some people and is something that has often been overlooked in the past by employers.

“Although we have helped, and continue to assist, our employees undergoing this change, we wanted to go one step further and make a strong, signed commitment to support our people. We are proud to be a part of this national pledge.”

Milsted Langdon recognises the importance of supporting employees experiencing the menopause and we hope by educating and assisting our people they will be confident to help one another and thrive within their careers with us.

We hope other businesses will follow our lead and sign the pledge, as taking a proactive approach to the menopause has been proven to increase staff retention, reduce recruitment costs, improve productivity, happiness and wellbeing.

Tim Close, Milsted Langdon’s Chair, added: “Our talented staff are one of our greatest resources and so we want them to know that we are here and ready to assist them through every stage of their career and personal life.

“This is an area where lots of businesses could take small steps to improve their approach, as there are clear benefits from doing so for employees and companies as a whole.”
