Local Recruitment event coming to Chard and Yeovil this month

Released On 17th May 2022

The South Somerset Opportunities Hubs are co-hosting two free recruitment events on 24 and 25 May, in partnership with Abri, Seetec Pluss, Department for Work and Pensions and Yeovil College. The aim of these events is to support residents, who are currently unemployed, into work and offer services to help develop skills and learning of individuals looking for a career change.

The Opportunities Hubs were set up in November 2021, with the aim to create and deliver an agile employment and careers service that tackles worklessness experienced by residents across South Somerset. The Hubs offer free tailored support and are dedicated to recognising individual's digital and employment barriers, identifying skill gaps and improving these through training.

By joining forces with partner organisations to deliver the upcoming recruitment events, we hope to increase employment and skills support within our local community and assist more residents in South Somerset into employment.

The Recruitment events are free to attend and will host a number of local businesses actively recruiting in the surrounding areas.

The Chard recruitment event will take place on Tuesday 24 May on the first floor of Chard Library and the Yeovil event on Wednesday 25 May in Yeovil Baptist Church.

Both events will run from 10 am until 2 pm, with a dedicated quiet session from 10-10.30 am exclusively for those who are nervous in busy areas or have additional needs that would benefit from a slower pace and quieter environment.

Jobseekers will benefit from interacting with different businesses, all hiring for roles at varying levels suiting a range of candidates. There will also be individuals on-site to support with applications and give a referral to those that could benefit from further support from any of the hosting companies. Quiet spaces are also on offer for individual talks with employers, or even an interview! Job seekers are welcome to bring their CV along as some employers will be accepting job applications on the day.

The event is open to walk-ins, however, if you would like to express your interest in attending, or have any specific queries, please contact OpportunitiesHub@SouthSomerset.Gov.Uk or visit our website at https://www.opportunitieshubsouthsomerset.com/events.
