'Green heart' opens at Taunton School
Released On 6th Feb 2023
A ‘green heart’ has opened at Taunton School this week, offering pupils the chance to relax in an environmentally-friendly haven.
The development has seen asphalt roads and paths between the Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior schools transformed into an eco-friendly pedestrianised area for students to enjoy their green surroundings.
It includes trees, plants, seating and sensory areas to promote student wellbeing and provide a place to take a break and socialise.
Year 8 pupil Harry said: “It’s so great to have this new space, it looks pretty with all the different greenery and the wooden structures. It definitely gives a modern touch to Taunton School.”
Terry Harris, Head of Estates at Taunton School, said: “We are delighted to be opening this oasis right in the centre of Taunton School and it’s great to see the children enjoying the space.
We’re now looking forward to working on future projects as part of our wider development plan.”
The Green Heart project is part of an extensive campus development plan for the school, which also includes new sports facilities and a new international school. The school has also recently opened a new sixth form centre and library.
