February 2022 Update | Emerald First Aid Training

Released On 7th Feb 2022

Since we were awarded Overall Business of the Year, we thought members would like to know what we've been up to and how we are continuing to grow.

October 2021

We were continuing to raise money to help purchase defibrillators to be located in high footfall areas of Yeovil. Working with Yeovil Town Council, we undertook a 1 hour CPR challenge at the Quedam Shopping Centre and our very own Ash Hunt completed this by himself, as well as Team Nationwide completing the challenge as a group. Funds are still continuing to be raised and more defibrillators have been installed.

November 2021

We were invited to tender for a contract with Somerset County Council

to deliver Basic Life Support training to their 200+ Public Health Nursing Team. This contact would be for 2 years (possibly 3) and would require us to conduct a large number of courses to “catch up” with the backlog created by COVID. Having sent in our offer and showing our adaptability, capability and quality, we were awarded the contract and work started to get course dates in the diary.

We also brought in our first member of staff into the office. Kathy joined us having spent 15+ years as a frontline Paramedic but reached a point where she wanted to remain within the industry but without the stresses and pressures of frontline work. Joining Ash with the administration and planning of courses, it is a wonder how we used to function without her!

December 2021

We were approached by Yeovil Town Football Club as they had previously struggled to have the required number of first aiders on matchdays as their supplier was unable to accommodate. Therefore we were happy to help and since then we have been providing first aiders for match days working alongside their own contracted paramedic and medical team, as well as SWAST for the highly anticipated FA Cup 4th Round game vs Bournemouth in January.

January 2022

Our office team grew yet again with the introduction of Mark to the business. Having been approved as an employer for the Kickstarter scheme, Mark came to us having been out of work for a number of months and was extremely keen to join a small business so that he could gain experience in all aspects of running a business, from advertising and marketing, to finance, HR and everything else in between. We were able to offer him time to work from home as well which made the role perfect for him with a young family.

Also our Somerset County Council contract started with 6 Basic Life Support courses taking place all around Somerset – Yeovil, Langport, Taunton, Williton, Highbridge we all well attended and the feedback we received has been nothing short of fantastic.

As well as all of that, we had the pleasure of selling our first defibrillator to The Hub on the Pen Mill Trading Estate. After a meeting with their managers about what defibrillator would be best for them, we were able to supply them with the defibrillator, an internal cabinet and prep kit, as well as signage for inside the building.

February 2022

This month kicks off with another defibrillator sold to Mind in Somerset and will be located within their premises on Peter Street, Yeovil. Internal cabinet and prep kit, and signage all included this will be available when the building is open.

We also have been active on the networking front, attending YFTC Business’s Launch event and booked in for the Chambers Breakfast Circle, Business Leaders Breakfast and Meet Your Neighbours.

Finally

In this time we have trained around 300 people in various levels of first aid and are taking bookings for our courses, as well as our event cover that we can provide and defibrillators sales. If you would like to discuss any of these with us please contact us at contact@emeraldfirstaidtraining.co.uk or call 01935 250 999.
