Christmas Engineering Works - Wessex Route

Dear Stakeholder,

Over the Christmas and New Year period there will be service alterations due to resignalling work in the London Victoria, Battersea Park and Balham areas. This will affect lines from Vauxhall to Clapham Junction and Earlsfield, requiring trains to run on different lines than normal. There will also be engineering work in the Woking area.

On Friday 24 December services will end earlier than normal. On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, there will be no services.

On Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December there will be a reduced level of service and:

  • Services between London Waterloo and Weymouth will be diverted or start and terminate at Farnborough (Main)
  • Services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Eastleigh will start and terminate at Farnborough (Main)
  • Services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour will be diverted
  • Services between London Waterloo and Alton will start and terminate at Guildford
  • Services from Exeter St Davids to London Waterloo will divert via Reading
  • Stopping services between London Waterloo and Woking will start and terminate at Weybridge
  • Some services between London Waterloo, Basingstoke, Salisbury and Guildford via Cobham & Stoke D'Abernon will not run

Between Wednesday 29 and Friday 31 December there will be a reduced level of service and: 

  • Services will not call at Vauxhall due to engineering work
  • Some services between London Waterloo and Guildford via Cobham & Stoke D'Abernon, Hampton Court, Shepperton and Chessington South will not run
  • Services from London Waterloo to London Waterloo via Twickenham will start and terminate at Kingston
  • Services between London Waterloo and Salisbury will start and terminate at Basingstoke
  • Other services will be retimed

On Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 January there will be a reduced level of service and: 

  • Services will not call at Vauxhall due to engineering work
  • Trains will not call at Earlsfield due to engineering work - a replacement bus service will run every 10 minutes between Clapham Junction and Wimbledon, calling at Earlsfield
  • Some suburban services between London Waterloo and Guildford via Cobham & Stoke D'Abernon, Hampton Court, Chessington South will not run
  • Some long-distance services between London Waterloo and Salisbury, Alton, Portsmouth Harbour and Bournemouth will not run  
  • Other services will be retimed

On Monday 3 January there will be a reduced level of service and: 

  • Services will not call at Vauxhall due to engineering work
  • Some services between London Waterloo and Guildford via Cobham & Stoke D'Abernon, Hampton Court, Shepperton and Chessington South will not run 
  • Services from London Waterloo to London Waterloo via Twickenham will start and terminate at Kingston
  • Services between London Waterloo and Salisbury will start and terminate at Basingstoke 
  • Other services will be retimed

On Tuesday 4 January a full level of service will resume.
