Tax specialist, Ali Kazmi, has left his job as tax advisor at one of London's most prestigious 'Big 6' accountancy firms in favour of a lifestyle change to the South West of England where he has taken up a role as senior tax and trust advisor at Battens Solicitors a top Legal 500 law firm. "I relocated to the South West so my family and I could enjoy Somerset’s fantastic countryside,” explained Ali, who has a wide range of knowledge and experience not only in tax but also in trust and company law. “I have advised high net worth individuals and their families on tax planning, trusts, and tax efficient investments schemes such as EIS, SEIS and VCTs, and I’ve advised directors, senior management and entrepreneurs on everything from the design and implementation of share schemes to exit strategies. “My particular passion, however, is wealth structuring especially in family investment companies; I believe those who work hard and accumulate wealth should be able to keep most of it and have the freedom to structure it in a way that it passes down to the future generations smoothly and tax efficiently. “My move to the private client team at Battens is a fantastic opportunity for me to play a big part in expanding the tax and trust team where I will be able to draw on all areas of my expertise – not just tax - and help my clients find a sensible solution to their problems, however complex they may be.” Naomi Dyer Head of Private Client at Battens Solicitors said “This is a key time of growth for us and Ali’s vast experience is a fantastic asset in helping us extend the breadth of tax and wealth management advice we can offer to our clients.”
