Battens Charitable Trust supports Southwest farming by sponsoring three agricultural shows this Augu
Released On 2nd Aug 2022
Since 1985, The Battens Charitable Trust has donated over £500,000 to local charities and charitable purposes in Somerset and Dorset including agricultural societies, helping young farmers in their communities.
The BCT is once again sponsoring the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show (17 August), the Mid Somerset Show at Shepton Mallet (21 August) and the Melplash Show at Bridport (25 August).
The shows are key events in the region’s farming calendar where the farming community can come together and enjoy a spectacular family day out. The BCT has sponsored the shows for a number of years and staff from Battens Solicitors also lend their support at these popular events.
With everything from livestock and machinery displays to food, crafts and plenty of fun activities, each of these shows offer an opportunity for the agricultural community to showcase its industry to a wider public.
James Owen, Joint Head of Agriculture and Rural Property at Battens Solicitors said;
"Agriculture has been going through a challenging time, due to the pandemic, and the cost-of-living crisis so it is more important than ever that we get behind the farming community and show our support. Once again, we are proud to be sponsoring these fantastic events. We are looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury and Melplash shows and meeting up with old friends and new.”
Battens Solicitors will be at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury show and Melplash show where you can learn more about the Charitable Trust and speak to their expert legal team (and even have a slice of cake or two!)
