Sustainable Transport for Businesses online event

Event details:

This event gives the opportunity for businesses to consider transport developments and actions to achieve sustainable transport solutions.

Transport is one of the most significant sectors for carbon emission, so change is essential if we are to make progress towards net zero. Almost every business is dependent in some way on transport, whether as a means of getting products to market or staff to the workplace. This event gives the opportunity for businesses to consider transport developments and consider future actions.

Who should attend:

Any business in Somerset that uses vehicles for work purposes, including cars, vans or heavy goods vehicles. Any business whose employees commute to the workplace.

Why attend:

This is an opportunity to hear from local businesses that have implemented sustainable transport related alternatives and also to hear from the transport lead at the Local Enterprise Partnership about national and regional transport policy developments.

What’s covered:

Installing EV chargers and solar PV, transitioning from diesel fuel to Hydro treated vegetable oil (HVO), economising on vehicle trips, green employee travel plans, challenges of shipping goods overseas and future thinking of better integrating freight via rail, plus much more.

The event:

The event starts at 2pm on on 8th March. Keynote speaker Ian Harrison from the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership, will deliver a presentation on the broader strategic picture and share current Government thinking on business related transport with a chance for Q&A’s at the end of the session.

The event will provide an opportunity to listen to three local businesses who will share their journeys to make sustainable, green changes to their transport operations, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their topic. This event is free and is being delivered by South Somerset District Council and the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership.
