The Rendezvous
The Rendezvous is a youth based charity supporting young people (13-25) from South Somerset and North Dorset with a range of services including mental health wellbeing, learning in foundation Maths and English, employability skills, advice and support for young parents, and nurture groups to improve communication skills and reduce social anxiety. Every year we help over 300 young people achieve things they never thought possible – working with our staff and local volunteers they become more confident and less anxious and socially isolated; they pass exams and find their voice as they move into college/work/apprenticeships, they begin to feel proud of themselves and they start to smile and to laugh again.
We want a world where all young people are able to thrive. We want them to have the skills and support they need to navigate difficult lives, overcome challenging circumstances and a lack of opportunities to become resilient, confident and optimistic for their future as they transition into adulthood.
We care for the whole person and know that ‘one-size’ does not fit all meaning we work to find the right approach and help for every one of the 300 plus young people we work with every year. We know it takes time for young people to trust and feel able to share and to believe that they can achieve. For this reason, we do not put a time-limit on the work we do and the door is always open for them to come back if they need more help.
Below are some quotes from people we have helped.
“She’s at uni and that’s because of you! You literally saved her life. We always talk about you and grateful we are for your help.” – Parent feedback (20yo)
“I want to say thank you for everything you've done for me, you have helped me so much. Honestly, I am going to carry you in my heart for life.” - 17yo
“I’m really proud of all the progress I’ve made. I have everyone at the Rendezvous to that for that”
