Entry Guidelines

YOUNG BUSINESS 2024

Entrants are invited from businesses less than three years old, that have demonstrated enterprise, vision, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit when setting up a successful new business.

SME BUSINESS 2024

This category is open to businesses with up to 250 staff. Entrants should have demonstrated enterprise, vision, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit, which in turn is growing their business.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD 2024

Entrants must go the extra mile, showing flexibility, responsibility, and a clear focus on quality of delivery. They need to demonstrate a high level of customer satisfaction, setting the bar for their competitors to follow.

A GREAT PLACE TO WORK 2024

The winners will be determined based on feedback provided by those who really know a company best - the employees. The entry forms will need to include comments from the staff as to why the business deserves to be called ‘A Great Place to Work’.

EXCEPTIONAL EMPLOYEE 2024

We will be looking for nominations for employees who have demonstrated excellence in performance, peer-to-peer communication, and leadership qualities, combined with personal and team accomplishments.

OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION BY AN INDIVIDUAL 2024

Nominees for this award should have demonstrated going beyond expected levels of commitment giving their time and specific skills to serve or advise a local community group, local commerce organisation or charity

COMMUNITY CHAMPION 2024

This award recognises an individual who has gone out of their way to campaign for a local cause, that in turn helps their community and their environment. The winner of this category will be someone who tirelessly works to make things better for everyone.

SOCIAL CARE BUSINESS 2024

This award is open to businesses that are based in the social care sector. The winner will have demonstrated the highest level of care and commitment to their service users, staff and the community.

RETAIL BUSINESS 2024

The winner of this award will be a local retailer based in our area. Our judges will want to know how the retailer is succeeding in a sector under pressure from online competition. They will need to understand the strategy behind the retailer’s success.

HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE BUSINESS 2024

The winner of this award will be able to demonstrate their contribution to our area’s growing leisure, tourism, and hospitality industry. The winner must show innovations and the desire to constantly raise standards and ratings, which in turn encourage their customers to stay and support the area’s range of businesses.

MANUFACTURING AND ENGINEERING BUSINESS 2024

This category is aimed at businesses that strive for excellence in manufacturing and/or engineering. The judges will look for organisations that have delivered innovation, performance, and results, making a major contribution to the local manufacturing and engineering sectors plus of course their customers.

ENVIRONMENTAL/GREEN BUSINESS 2024

We are looking for local business entrants who show awareness of environmental issues and are working to be more environmentally friendly.

ARMED FORCES/ VETERAN AWARD 2024

This new award for 2024 honours the exceptional achievements of a Service Person, Veteran, Reservist, or member of the Armed Forces Community who has demonstrated exceptional resilience and determination in overcoming significant challenges to establish, enhance, or support a local business or charity, contributing to social value in the community.

Chosen from all entrants, this business will demonstrate an extra level of resilience or success across a number of categories and will be a business that sets a positive example to their staff, customers and other businesses in everything they do.
