Accountancy firm celebrates talent of schoolchildren
Milsted Langdon has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the next generation of business leaders by sponsoring awards for outstanding students at local schools.Peter Groves, Director at the firm’s Bath office, recently visited The Millfield School in Street, Somerset, to judge their Dragons Den style competition for year 10 students. Around 100 students, in groups of three or four, had all formulated a business plan after collaboratively devising ideas on the theme of mobile technology. The children then had to consider how they would market the product.
The teams gave presentations to explain their devices, state where competition would come from and offer financial forecasts before being questioned by the judges; Peter Groves, Nick Williams (Head of Business and ICT at The Millfield School) and the school’s Head of Year 10 Mrs Caoimhe Pettingell.
The winners called their business Fresh Phase and their product was a car security app that aids drivers in locating their car after parking as well as acting as a security device should the vehicle be stolen.
Peter said: “At Milsted Langdon, we have long enjoyed successful relationships with our local schools and colleges, supporting and encouraging the businessmen and women of tomorrow. The boys of Fresh Phase had an innovative idea and I congratulate them on their victory and wish them luck for their exams and the future.”
